Default Access To Google Maps

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

I've installed google maps on my 8100. However when I run the software I get an error that states:

Your BES server does not allow connections to the Google Maps service.

Any ideas?

TIA,
Robert.

Your BES IT administrator has restrictions in place; contact them for assistance as if you are nice to them they might open up your access.

I've got full admin rights to our BES server. Can you point me in the right direction?

Sorry rabjac, I am by no means a BES expert so I can not point in the right direction.

As long as the default IT policy is in place you should have no problem connecting to Google maps.
In the time it takes someone to respond to your question you could be looking around the Blackberry manager for your answer.
HINT: It's under the IT Policy. 3rd Party apps.

It's the default policy that's in place (just a basic install of BES) and browsing with the 8100 is OK - I installed Google Maps from the website on the handheld.

If it isn't the BES Policy denying access, there’s also a chance that the application didn’t properly initialize on the BlackBerry. Go to Settings=>Options=Advanced Options=>Applications.

Scroll down and select Google Mobile Maps for BlackBerry, and then click the wheel in to bring up the menu. Select Edit Permissions and then check under Connections. Make sure that the Networks options aren’t set to Denied. Change and save them if they are.
