I would think that your provider would be best equiped to answer this question for you. I know that telenav is showing up on our Nextel phones. I'm not sure if other providers are pushing this out as well. Who is your provider and have you spoke with them about this? If so, what were your findings?

For the Sprint Nextel devices you have two options. If you go with a stand aloneTelenav package and do not have a data package feature enabled on your account you will only be limited to 10 routes per month with a max of 1MB for $10.

If you already have a Sprint Vision package or Nextel data service package (note must be unlimited, most if not all packages are unlimited access) then the Telenav service is unlimited driving routes and unlimited data per month for $10 in addtion to the Vision/data price.

As far as performance, yes Telenav is an awesome service and application to have. I lost being able to search for gas stations and find the cheapest price. There is also the ability to search for businesses near you. The only issue I have noticed is if you are in an area with alot of cross streets near one another the system tends to get confused as to which street you are on.

I've noticed Telnav questions have increased as updates have been competed? Telnav is Nextels way of making more money and IMHO is spam of sorts. I may be wrong but that service cost money to the user. Those of us who wanted Telnav chose it and those of us who did not want Telnav said no already one time. Now as we update we see the option again and can't rid our devices of the icon/service availability.

But to (get off my soap) and stay on topic there are several good programs that will do what Telnav does. I agree with Known1 i would call Nextel with that question? If you do end up calling them please consider posting their answer so we can all learn from the answer they give.

sorry i'm tired of unsolicited items on my phone after a years use.

I know of no other mapping program for the BB that has Voice Turn by Turn instructions - please share if you know of any. I use Telnav primarily for that function, but also like to run BBMaps and GoogleMaps. There is another Map program called SPOT by skylab-mobiles but their demo shuts off after 5 minutes and I have not had good luck with it.

If you have a data plan, then you have nothing to worry about. Telenav is extremely stable and very accurate. I think Wayfinder has voice turn by turn also.

Make sure you see Stinsonddog's Blackberry Tips for his comparison of GPS applications that can be used on the BB.

Wirelessly posted (BLACKBERRY 8703e (ALLTEL): BlackBerry8703e/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/106)

Alltel and TeleNav. The 8703e for Alltel supports TeleNav. It is $10 a month. The data plan (unlimited) for Alltel is $45 a month with a voice plan; $50 a month without a voice plan. I like TeleNav.

If you dont need voice turns then BBmaps is free and with a GPS BT pod it works just a good as the others based on the comments at this site
