Default Desktop Manager Crashes When Trying To Sync Outlook Calender

Please Login to Remove!

I turned off contacts, notepad, and tasks then noticed that my desktop manager would only crash if i tried to sync my outlook calender. If any of you guys could help with suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

Can you look in the Intellisync log file and see if there are any error messages?

Had the same problem with a 7130c. Usually a corrupt calendar entry or meeting etc.

Try taking a look at this thread:

Support - Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Error during synchronization

Within that article is a link on how to enable the advanced logging.

I had this problem on my last BB (8700) it was due to an attachment in one of my appointments in Outlook. Look through you calendar and find one of your appointments (or more) that have actual attachments on them (word docs, PPTs, etc). Remove the attachment, resync and life will be great again.

Thank you, robotpedlr, this did the trick! I did an "Advanced Find" in Outlook calendar to find all appointments with attachments. Up popped a handful of entries with conflicting synch information. I deleted them, and now sync perfectly. Thanks!

Default Crashes

I had the same problem but with my contacts. I copied the contacts to an offline folder and then copied them back to the online folder and synched after every portion. I apprears I had a corrupt record that was causing the problem. Once I identified that - no more problems!!

Actually, I synchronized perfectly...but only once! After this first sync, desktop manager continued to crash during Outlook caledar sync. With calendar sync disabled, all other Outlook components sync'ed fine. My IT guy finally removed/renamed the RIM folder under my profile, forcing DM to recreate it. This did the trick once and for all.

Same issue here with syncing calendar. I can't seem to find the entry though.

Sometimes it syncs sometimes it crashes. It doesn't crash if i just export the calendar from the pc to the pearl. It only crashes when set to synchronize.

I did enable logging but the log was not obvious as to what was making it crash.

Try renaming the RIM folder...in XP, mine was
<C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Research In Motion>
This will force the application to recreate the folder. Worked for me yesterday.

Thanks for the tips here. I had the same problem synching my calendar. I removed attachments but that didn't do it. Renaming the RIM folder got it to work.

Thanks!
