Hi,
I just downloaded the new firmware from Cingular (..rel529). I see that its an exe file. I already installed it on my computer. And I already have the latest 4.2 version of the desktop manager. Question is, how do I install the said new released firmware to my 8700g?? please help. I'm really a new B user.

Delete the vendor.xml file located in c:\program files\common fles\research in motion\apploader. Then open Desktop Manager with the BB plugged in and it should prompt you to upgrade.

Edit: You said 8700g....I added the instruction to delete vendor.xml first.

Okay, please bear with me. Where do I access the C:/ drive? my phone? do i need to install something to access this drive and its contents? Please advise.

You access the c:/ drive from your computer.

There is a thread about installing a new OS to your BlackBerry in the Themes/Ringtones part of the forum the I HIGHLY recommend you read prior to doing it. The thread gives complete instructions on what to do and was very useful when I did an OS upgrade.
