Default Duplicate entries in address book

Please Login to Remove!

Has anyone seen issues with address in the blackberry address book being duplicated (we're on an Exchange BES)? It is also duplicated on the 'contacts' address list in outlook, but I'm not sure if it caused by the blackberry or not.

Does anyone know a cause for this OR a nice clean way to clean up all the duplicate entries? Thanks!

You can try deleting the address book entirely on the devise and letting it resync with outlook. I find this sometimes clears up osd problems. There is a caveat when doing this or it will delete all your contacts. If I am not mistaken you have to turn off the wireless sync, delete the contacts then when you turn wireless sync back on it will refresh the list.

Do a backup first just in case.

You could do that unless the user has >100 contacts and then it gets to be a pain to have to delete 200+ contacts one-by-one.

Soapm- that is what I had my user do and it's a good thing the user only had 40-50 contacts, but nonetheless it is still a messy solutions..

Are there any easy ways to delete the entire address book (with out using desktop manager, which we don't freely give out to our users?)

I wouldn't delete any contacts from the device, could delete them from Exchange as well. If the user is on Exchange and storing data in the Information Store, my approach would be to clean up the Outlook Calendar first, then wipe out the device and redo the EA (Enterprise Activation).

This approach worked for us when we dealt with duplicated entries.
