Default outlook events - unsupported media type in header

Please Login to Remove!

I'm not on a BES - only using cingular BIS. I'm just serf at work and don't qualify to get on the BES, but I like my blackberries.

Some coworkers on Outlook will send me calendar invites and they are readable - like a 3 line body for the content, describing time and place of the meeting.

The majority of events come as an "unsupported media type in header" message on my blackberry and in thunderbird, on the desktop, they are big messy raw vCalendar invites.

The other ones look the same on the bberry or desktop.

Anyone know why the blackberry can read some but not others? i'd like to tell my co-workers what to change on their outlook settings, so that they all send out the nice little 3 liners. Also, the folks that send out the 3 liners are able to use outlook normally. In fact, in talking to the two groups, since they both use outlook, they're not aware of any difference in their configs.

Was hoping the folks here, being more knowledgeable might be able to help.

Thanks -
cris.

Welcome to the forum. Unfortunately vCal media-type is not supported on OS 4.1 for BIS. The next OS 4.2 may support it in some fashion.... we'll have to wait and see.

if you do get connected to the BES you will have the same IT restrictions they have. You may be bettter off where you are unless they dont restrict BB's

Are there any 3rd party apps that can translate the vcal for me? Or anyone know about the settings difference in Outlook that can send out the invite in vCalendar versus the more human friendly 3-liner?
