Default T-mobile plans

Please Login to Remove!

Guys- I just got a pearl through T-mobile and I'm still trying to figure out the rate plans.

I see the BB unlimited add-on for $19.95 which gives me unlimited data access, but not sms or mms, right?

I don't see any available add-ons to my family plan that would give me unlimited sms or mms. Am I missing something?

Also, I noticed I can attach a voice recording to a message. Does this make it an mms? Is there a price difference between an mms and an sms?

Thanks

Hi Guys!

I'm very new in this forum and also a new user of blackberry. I just got my BB thru T-mobile lastweek and I can't figure out how to copy my phonebook from my treo 650.

How can i copy my treo650 to bb?

Bb data and sms/mms are separate plans.
Did you check your my tmobile for add ons? Call customer care? The text plans includes sms and mms, no difference in price.

Wirelessly posted (Opera/8.01 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/3.0.6540/1558; en; U; ssr))

Tmobile has an unlimited text messaging plan for families @ 19.99 which covers sms/mms

I did go to my T-mobile and didn't see the option.

$19.95???? Wow. That seems high. I guess I'd rather pay $0.10 cents/message. But I guess you get dinged on both ends (10 cents to send and then 10 cents to receive). But it would take 100 messages to get to $19.95 and I don't see that happening.

t-mo also has 4.99 for 300 (or is it 400??) that what is on my son's phone. we have the family plan sharing minutes but he has his messages (sms and mms) and I've got my data. I occasionally do text but not worth getting the add-on.
hope this helps.

19.99 is actually really low for a family plan considering a single plan will cost you 14.99 for unl. If you text a lot like I do you will be saving hundreds!

$19.99 BB add-on only covers data and e-mail (internet, PIN messaging, etc etc)...however it does NOT include SMS/MMS messaging. So you might want to sign up for a text messaging add-on as well..$4.99 for 400 , $9.99 for 1000, or $14.99 for unlimited....(correct me if I'm wrong, but its something like that)

There is Blackbery Minutes & Mail plans, that include unlimited text messaging I believe, but do not have Nights & Weekends, these are pretty good deals, might want to look into those as well.

Be also advised, that OZ Instant Messaging will use SMS text messages, not DATA, so you'll be billed an SMS text message every time you send or recieve an IM...look around the forum for IM alternatives, if you plan on using IM on the Pearl.

You gave the best answer to this thread!

You forgot to give the links to the plans though so here it is...

The $4.99/line add-on may be worth it since it would take only 50 messages to get me to $10.

I'm not really interested in paying $19.99 for the data service nor the minutes and mail plans since I'm on a family plan.

Thanks for the responses. I'll have to figure out why my tmobile login didn't show the $4.99 add-on for text messages.

It seems some people pay a lot more than others for the same stuff?

Here is what shows up as the "extras" available for a plan:
Quote:
WorldClass International Service
Small rates for a big world. Expand your horizons when calling from outside the US, with no monthly fee. Dual- or tri-band phones required, unless calling from Mexico. Additional credit approval required.
Free

CallerTunes
CallerTunes® is a cool, new service that lets you choose what your callers will hear until you answer your phone. Instead of the normal, boring "ring, ring" they hear today, your callers can hear music, sound effects, or short, spoken clips.
$1.49

Discounted long distance to Canada
You're already calling your friends and associates in Canada--now you can make all the calls you want and save. For $4.99 per month, you can make unlimited calls to Canada for just $0.09 per minute. And at $0.09 per minute, you can call whenever!
$4.99

Unlimited Messages for Families
Send and receive any type of message you want, in any combination you want. Text, IM, picture, or video messages--it's up to you! And the best part is one bundle covers up to 5 subscribers on the same FamilyTime plan so you only need to buy one!
$9.99

BlackBerry Unlimited Add-on
Add access to BlackBerry's powerful data functionality to a voice rate plan. The BlackBerry Unlimited Add-on includes unlimited BlackBerry Web Client e-mail and Web browsing.
$19.99

HotSpot
Make the most of your time -- get unlimited high-speed wireless Internet access for your PDA or laptop at places you already go, including Starbucks, FedEx Kinko's, Borders Books and Music stores, Hyatt hotels, and airports.
$19.99

BlackBerry Unlimited w/Enterprise Email Add-on
Add access to BlackBerry corporate data features to a voice rate plan. BlackBerry Unlimited w/Enterprise E-mail, for use with BlackBerry Enterprise Server (BES) software, includes unlimited BES access, BlackBerry Web Client e-mail, and Web browsing.
$29.98

T-Mobile Total Internet
T-Mobile Internet with Hotspot
$29.99
And here is the plan those are for:

There is no way I would pay 20 or even 15 bux for unlimited SMS! $10 is bad enough.

I don't understand. I logged in to tmobile and clicked on plans and services and don't see any of these options you guys are talking about for the text messages. I do see the BlackBerry unlimited data service for $19.99 but I don't see anything for text. Do I have to call customer support to figure out what is available? Why? I hate calling these people.

Tmob have different plans/rates with OAC. Most have a postpaid account, you can order all the services. Some have smart access account, you are limited by credit.

Call customer care, check which account type you qualified for. Only they can sort out your situation.

I have no clue why they would give it to one person for $9.99 and another for $19.99

I went to the T-mobile website. It seems they are in the process of redoing the website. That might explain what you are seeing on the website.

When I look at my account, it's missing few options there.

I have been paying 9.99 for more than a couple months though. More like a couple years *shrug* I think it has to vary by state and like already mentioned, by credit.

Actually, I think it's a grandfathered plan. When I finally got a "career job" in March of 2005, I missed the data plan deal by a month. If I want it, I have to pay $29.99 data plan for the phone I used to have. So I went from my old phone to a new Sidekick to get the $19.99 data plan. I than went to Blackberry 7290 and now I have the Blackberry 8100 (Pearl). I think the data plan was changed back in January of 2005.
