I suppose you are referring to the draft-dodging Chimp's failure to respect the UN (which the US is a member of, presumably by choice), before invading Iraq? Of course, our own Dear Leader chose to follow, committing us, on very dodgy grounds indeed, to a war with no exit strategy and no real end in sight.
I'm not sure what you mean by appeasement, however - are you referring to the decision by some countries not to commit troops to a mission that had no UN mandate? Or do you mean Tony Bliar's appeasement of Republican terrorists in Northern Ireland, a policy which appears to have been fully supported by many in the US. They gave money to buy weapons that killed many innocent civilians as well as soldiers; the US failed to extradite wanted terrorists; and the leaders of Sinn Fein/IRA have been welcomed to the White House.
Don't get me wrong. I have family in the US and have visited many times. I admire the way the US looks after its military personnel, especially veterans, something our government has a very poor track record with (though I confess to wishing, through bitter experience, that your soldiers were better trained and better led). I like America, not least because it is a country of so many contrasts. Many Americans are bright, friendly and interesting people. Unfortunately, there are also those who not only demonstrate huge ignorance of world affairs, they are massively arrogant, utterly convinced of their own superiority and determined to force their way of life upon others. It's a shame that some of them are running your government, and, it seems, ours!
All of which does nothing to change the fact that Europe is ahead of the US in mobile and smartphone usage - so there!
