People might have been implying this, but you can tell it specifically which number for a contact to dial: "Call IBRG mobile" vs "Call IBRG home".

Or list your contacts as "3rd boyfriend", "4th boyfriend" "tall guy" , "blond person" ....etc, etc...

Also, once you tell it who to call it will ask you which number and you'll say home, mobile, work, etc.

Look at the screen when you press the left conv key. It will show you the available commands as it goes through your request.

yeah after you hit the key to activate the voice commands, you can go through it step by step and it will show you all available commands... next time just say "Check" and look at the prompt that pops up, there are your options.

Default I press...

... the left middle button on my Oakley O-ROKR's to activate voice dialing.

Now if RIM / T-Mo would release Pearl software to support A2DP, I would be set. I could leave my iPod at home and pick up a few 2 gb MicroSD's!

Have you ever tried Microsoft Voice Command? It is actually a brilliant program. You can open applications, ask "what my schedule is", etc. It is quite nice. The pearl one is also a good one...

Several years ago, I had a kyocera smartphone that could wake-up and accept voice-commands when you said "wake-up... wake-up". It was kinda cool but it didn't work real well. Sometimes you'd be talking to someone in your car and the phone would wake-up to ask for your voice-command. Other times you'd be telling the darn phone to wake-up and it wouldn't.

I much prefer pushing a button on my BT headset or using one of the convenience keys on the pearl to initiate voice-command.

As a prior user of MS Smartphones using their voice-command software and/or the voice-signal product (same one that ships with the pearl), I can't imagine having a phone without voice-dialing...

I had a Sony phone a few years ago that would do the same. You recorded a "secret word" that it was constantly listening for and, once uttered, would activate the voice dialing. Didn't work well at all, drained the battery because the mic was constantly active, and you look like a pretty big dork screaming "Kobioshi Maru" repeatedly into your headset trying to get it to activate.

Wait a tick, I think I just realized why I'm single.

Delorme Streets has voice commands, it was cool in the car. I had a small lapel mic from Radio Shack plugged in and I could pan, zoom, calculate the route, reroute... it passed the time.

**Edit** Sorry, just realized that this was a 2 month old thread.

This is pretty much been covered but I thought I would share what I found on VoiceSignal Technologies - Voice and Speech Recognition Solutions Each command has a submenu for you to select. I wish it had the send opiton like the demo shows...looks pretty sweet.

Supported Commands
Call Name
Call Number
Check
Turn Prompt (On/Off)

Commands not supported on the Blackberry Pearl
Lookup
Send
Open
Play
Connect

I think it just turns off the girls voice that asks you what you want to do. There's only 4 commands to remember, so they give you the option to not wait for her to ask you what you want to do?
