Default Fewer Options When Upgrading from 3.6 to 4.0

Please Login to Remove!

We recently upgraded to BES 4.0 and have had numerous configuration problems on our handhelds. For example:

Problem 1: When I create a new calendar event on the RIM, it will not update the calendar in Outlook wirelessly. On the BES it is configured for bi-directional sync. Same goes for Tasks.

Problem 2: In BES 3.6 you could make all your emails drop into one folder on your RIM, even if Outlooks Inbox was setup with subfolders. Is there a way to make all emails drop into one folder in BES 4.0 even when Outlook is configured with sub-folders?

Problem 3: In 3.6, we could sync with both public and private Outlook contacts. Now, we can sync the private contacts, but not the public.

Our biggest problem is #1...any help would be greatly appreciated!

Are handhelds are RIM 7280, Version# 4.0.0.185.

A Public KnowledgeBase Article that may address this item:

According to conversations with RIM this process can take a while depening on many factors, but no longer than an hour.

I think you need to check out the Users Selected Folders for Wireless Sync on the BES. You can specify which folders you want sent to the Blackberry. I think I need further clarification on this one.

Another good article. Perhaps Wireless Calendar Sync is not enabled on the handheld:

I'm trying to figure why RIM would do this. Doesn't it seem the opposite of progress?

1 - Might want to check for configuration and/or registration issues with CDO.dll. Wireless synchronization with our 4.0 servers is instant for both ways (might have a 10 second delay or so).

2 - The above answer is correct. Setup Folder Redirection for the sub-folders in Outlook.

3 - It does seem like it would be a step back (only somewhat), and I think enough people are complaining now (atleast on here) that RIM should think about reworking their wireless contact model (people may not be complaining to RIM, though... RIM doesn't use this forum or any other forum as the sole means of wanting to put in a CM for changing the functionality of their product, although it might be somewhat wise to do so on their part). However, the progression of the contact synchronization came with the fact that its now synchronized wirelessly rather than while cradled. You can turn off wireless synchronization of the contacts and they should be able to continue as they were with 3.6, if you want that... you choice though - wireless synchronization of personal contacts list or wired synchronization of public contacts list.
