Default Turn off Phone

Please Login to Remove!

Is there any way to disable the phone functionality completely on my 8703e ?

I only have a data plan and don't use my blackberry as a phone... how can I turn the phone off completely?
I keep mistakenly dialing numbers when the berry is in my pocket and it's begining to be a major pain in the ***.

Thanks,

You might be able to delete the phone application feature through your application loader. I say might because there has been some people that have had issues with deleting. Give it a try and let us know.

You could lock the keys for now.

Meaning they havent been able to find the application box for the phone to uncheck and remove the ability to call. The option wasnt even involved.

This is rediculous... Over $200 in phone calls that I never made !!!

I also bought a Covertech Case and it's still making phone calls

I called VZW and they don't want to re-imburse me because they claim they have no way of knowing if these calls were legit or not... (yah I just like to call Triple AAA in my spare time, for hours on end)

Anyone have any idea's or another case suggestion that will work?

I would disable dialing from the home screen and like tbdiscovery mentioned, lock your keys before putting it into your pocket.

Ditto... what CurbMonkey said. Lock your keyboard. Get the BB out of your pocket, obviously there is something you are doing to cause this constant dialing... I've never had that problem on my 8700.

I agree w/the Gecko; just delete the phone app from DM and that should remedy the problem.

I do subscribe to data only plan... that's why my bills were so high for phone calls (that weren't made by me but made by my BB when it was in its case).

Like I said I've already fixed this issue by using a Krusell Case, but for the sake of argument...

I doubt this would remedy the problem because the BB has the green answer button that when pressed brings you to the phone app where anyone (including the BB on it's own ) can dial.

However -- if the phone app isn't loaded you can't use it. Period. I've done this on a 7290 which does have a phone button on top. The button's basically made useless if you remove the phone app. In any case, there are plenty of options from using a holster with a proper sleeper magnet to using the keylock, etc...

I do have data only plan and voice plan is barred by t-mo so even if BB dials any number it will not incurr any charges because voice is disabled.
T-mo has a voice-barred blackberry plan
I hope this clears
