If you look at their plan details for BB Unlimited and Blackberry Tethered they are identical. So I'm not sure why you would pay over $30 more for tethering. The device can only download so much data anyway.

Unlimited? Is this the same as free, aka no additional cost.

Seems like from the Cingular site the 'tethering' plan is certainly more per month than the unlimited data plan.

but the question is are they just being liars that make you pay more for something that is identical or can they actually tell that you are using tethering and not just blackberry internet.

True - I guess we will have to find out from someone who has done this already!

Spoke to a CR at Cingular. Basically, they told me that on the current 29.99 plan, I should not be able to use it as a modem. They said that if I was, it could be likened to stealing cable. Then, the rep said that there was really no way to stop anyone who is not tethered from using their pearl as a modem. When I asked why they charged so much extra for tethering, he said he didn't know.

Just thought I would pass on the info.

Default 8100 tmobile modem (display caller I.D. on the pc)

Hey, Here's a question for the experts, when I'm using the pearl as a modem, I have it connected with a short 6" usb cable and a universal mount that slips into a holder on the back of the pc's screen that way if I need to move the pc I don't have to pick up both the laptop and the phone. I got tired of picking up my Pearl when it crashes to the floor. it's a nice set-up, but?

It would be really cool if I could see who's calling on the pc's screen. any ideas, if this is possible?

You'd need some sort of data plan. I don't know which one Rogers would require
