just wondering who out there uses a desktop charger....i know that seido has one, and that looks pretty cool...and i've seen the leather desktop charging stand, but i was wondeirng if anyone has tried this one...



i found it on an eBay search...price is a bit high (like $70 w/ shipping)...but it charges the Pearl, BB headset, and an extra battery...(not that I have either of those extra things right now...lol)

there's a few other chargers on eBay as well, and just wondering about any experiences that you all might have...

Nope, don't use a desktop charger. I like how they look, but just don't see the need to spend the extra money. I've been charging it in various places with a nice little Motorola RAZR charger. They work, and they're cheap.

I have the "New" Seidio cradle which charges with their black case on. Works well for me as i got into a habit of working with a PPC the last few years and usually charge in the cradle now. I tried the USB charger which is larger and has a separate cable attached for synching but it did not work with the Red Pearl. Maybe a bad cable.

Does anyone know the whereabouts of a cross reference chart,
showing which accessories from Motorola are compatable
with my Pearl?

As metsfan mentioned just use RAZR or KRZR car chargers or wall chargers.

However, I have found that netiher RAZR or KRZR will chanrge with blackberry chargers. Does anyone know pinots on these two chargers. Why will one Moto chargers work with BB and not the other way round?

not sure why the BB charger won't charge a RAZR, but i do know that any mini-usb charger will charge the BB Pearl. I've used my MDA charger (since I've lost my MDA...), a Moto mini-usb charger, as well as a store bought usb-to-mini-usb data cable...and they all work fine for the Pearl. Just check which phones use a mini-usb charger, and find the cheapest one on eBay or something....they will all work.

It has more to do with the mini-usb hookup than anything else, plus Motorola's software I think. I'm not sure why Motorola's phones don't like other chargers. I had a Razr for Cingular, and my GF had one on Verizon. Hers would not charge with my charger, and mine would not charge with hers. I can use either one to charge my Pearl. Go figure.

I just bought my first BB and I have been reading this forum for like 2 hours now...Lots of great info! Anyways, that's cool to know that I can use my Razr car charger on my BB...Thanks!

Guys guys, read the voltage, phones will work charging with less voltage but not more. The BlackBerry charger has more voltage than the motorola ones (which also means that the motorola chargers take slightly more time to charge the BB than the BB chargers), and as a fail safe or whatever motorola's will not charge with chargers that have more voltage output then things that are meant for it. NO motorola isn't making the Pearl for RIM. Doesn't have anything to do with software.
