Default DST All over again for me...

Please Login to Remove!

Our Exchange 2003 SP1 server was nearing its end of life before the
whole DST exercise, so I decided there was no point in complicating things by
upgrading to SP2 first and instead just applied the DST patch onto SP1.

Course, now that has come back to haunt me since you need Exchange 2003 SP2 to introduce Exchange 2007 into your environment. DOH!

For Exchange2003, I need to install SP2 and then apply the SP2 DST patch. What do I need to do for the BES? I'm assuming I'll have to upgrade it to the latest CDO, but was there anything else?

The SP1 DST Patch already introduced the 'Send As' issue, so that shouldn't be a factor.

Thanks a lot for your help, and sorry for bringing this up again..

I'm assuming that you also applied the Exchange Server DST Fix to your BES as well when you did the whole DST fun?

I think you'll need to apply the SP2 DST patch to your BES as well... I think. Because I believe it has another version of the CDO.dll in it.

Yea, the BES is all patched and all the Blackberries already have the DST patch applied. But the patch on the BES server was for SP1 DST, so I'll need to apply the SP2 DST patch which will introduce the new CDO.

I'm just wondering if there were any SP2/DST/BES specific issues other then the Send As problem.

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/100)

Nope I don't remember coming across any other issues. Hopefully someone else will chime in as well.

The send as problem was the only issue that I am aware of with SP2. As long as you apply the same patches to the BES as you do to the Exch server (and fix send as) you should be good to go. Always double check that your CDO's match.

For anyone that happens to be in the same situation, here's all I had to do:
1. Apply SP2 & KB926666 to the Exchange 2003 SP1 Server
2. Apply SP2 & KB926666 to the BES Server

I rebooted both servers afterwards. No problems that I can see of thus far.
