Does 0.9 support individual status for each IM program?

Thanks for the fast reply. I kinda figured it would use some. But how much? and how often does it refresh the list?

I would suggest you to email to JiveTalk. They might be able to give you more info. If you have limited data, I would suggest you NOT to leave your jivetalk on. you will never know if the program would go crazy to pull data or refresh more often.

And you may very well need to monitor it a month with Bell, and see.

Yes, this has been supported for a while.

If you want to set status for a single account, highlight that account and select "Set Status..." from the menu.

If you want to set status for all accounts, highlight the accounts bar at the top and select "Set Status" from the menu.

Good Idea and this is what they told me

Quote:
It really depends on the size of your buddy list and how frequently your buddy's presence changes. All buddy list changes are updated in real time. So it can vary greatly for different users. For example, I have 8 accts logged in all day with over 200 entries in the buddy list, and chat a lot. For that, I use about 500 to 800 kb per day on JT

We don't recommend you keeping the app on all the time if you don't have an unlimited data plan.

You can monitor your data usage for a session (defined from the time you start the app) by going to view log, bandwidth usage.

Hope that helps.
thanks for all your help guys

Default Jt

Having issues with the Public Beta .90 of Jt..

Emailed support, they weren't able to help.. They tried having me set up manual direct=socket and http with no luck.. I wanted to see if anyone else is having the same problems.

Running 4.2.1.85 Platform 2.3.0.67 on a 8700 with Cingular.

We do not have MDS running on the BES, running the autoconfig: I get "The application JiveTalk $2dBlackberry$2dpearl has attempted to open a connection to a location inside the firewall and outside the firewall which is not allowed by your IT policy.

We did attempt to set direct=http or direct=socket and it didn't help. I did reset the firewall parameters and it didn't work either. Backing off to .62 seems to work fine. The split tunneling stuff I think has to do with, it doesn't like socket or communication while doing any kind of BES communication from the same app, to ward off nasty proxy applications.. However, I'm pretty sure we don't have that policy inforced on the BES.

The autonetwork configure fails on all 6 items with .90.. In .62 it only tests for 4, and the socket and http are OK, BES fails..

JT, can you guys try testing for socket and http before bes, in the next beta release and see if it helps? Maybe the BES connectivity attempts aren't gracefully stopped before the BIS testing? In the mean time i'm back on .62.

Matt

In order for the regular version of JT to support Sametime or MS LCS, your sys admins will have to open up your firewall to allow access from our servers, which doesn't make a lot of sense for companies that have large internal IM systems.
I understand your point regarding firewall changes as I do manage a system. I guess I was thinking it would be a direct connection to LCS through BES like the BB messenger and everyting else would go through your server. When will the Corp IM pkg be released and is there a beta now that I could test?

TIA

Using it. Loving it. The interface is far superior to a few other MSN clients I have used (BerryVine is one). It also just looks so much like the MSN client for Windows, it's hard to even tell.

As far as stability- superb. I leave it on 7-9 hours a day and it hasn't failed or crashed once. As a matter of fact, I just recently noticed it had a "Force Quit" option, while browsing around.

Keep up the phenomenal work. This is one of the VERY few apps I would buy for the BB.

hi, nice program however, since installing to my Cingular 8100, I have stopped getting emails. I do have two other apps that access connection for info - journal bar and free news.

Any help please?

Default firewall problems

@ Mgalin. Your not alone when I updated to 0.9.0 from 0.6.2 I've got the same firewall program. I've reset my firewall and altered permissions to allow all. No joy. Only way past it currently for me is to disable the firewall. Tmobile and bis

We should have this patched pretty soon on our servers. Can you send us an email @ [email address] if you're interested in testing it out on the dev server?
BTW: the fix beejive had me test for this problem did work.

Default Build 0.9.1 Now Available

We just released the 0.9.1 build of JiveTalk.

This build is pretty much all emoticons. We did fix a number of small bugs, but the new features are all around smileys, including

- Ability to parse and display emoticons
- Emoticon chooser to select emoticons
- Service specific emoticons list
- Framework for installable emoticon packs. Currently you can only use the default pack, but we will open this up so you can go wild with your own emoticon packs.
- Preference to turn off emoticons, if you don't like them.
- Extension emoticons outside of the standard set for each service, and a preference to enable them.

The current emoticon pack is complete for AIM and GTalk, but doesn't contain some of the more obscure ones on Yahoo and MSN. We will add more as we go along.

As always, you can upgrade from within the application by going to About JiveTalk > Upgrade. Or you can go install OTA by pointing your mobile browser to beejive :: JiveTalk mobile messaging or download the desktop installer from beejive :: JiveTalk mobile messaging

Thumbs up

Just tried 0.90 for two days, this is absolutely the best multi-client chat application for blackberry. I've tried about three others, and this one wins hands down.

I think Jivetalk needs to get more publicity. I could not even see a screenshot anywhere I searched.

Get it into blog and forum review.... so more people can benefit.

Great job! Jivetalk team!
