Hey guys I'm from the US on Cingular I am now in Israel and i want to have my pearl as an Emergency I'm Skyping home most of the time. When i turn the radio on all i get is an SOS where the signal bars woudl be. WAs there something I should have done before I left the US. Thanks fo your advice

Not sure how Cingular works but you probably need an International plan on your account.

i live in israel and use the pearl ( actually the only one that I know that does !!)

cingular will not work here unless you sign up for their international package

you can also get a separate data package form cellcom or orange which will work with pearl

If your phone is unlocked. If its locked you must use Cingular's SIM and have them turn on the International option.

What if anytging do you recommend for when I visit Israel if I use the Pearl in US (T-Mobile). cellcom and Orange would only be helpful if I lived there as a full time plan.

You should have checked with Cingular before you travel internationally in the first place.

z1g1, contact Cingular now (via Skype) and they would add international calling to your phone - I was in Israel about a year ago my friend who did exactly this with T-Mobile, and in day or so his BlackBerry was working. Data roaming charges in Israel were not outrages, all services worked fine.
