Default Transfer browser bookmarks from BlackBerry to another

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

I have a BlackBerry 8700 and I am intending to purchase a BlackBerry Curve. Is it possible to transfer your browser bookmarks from 1 BlackBerry to another?

e.g. is there a way you can export your bookmarks (like when you use Internet Explorer on a PC) and then import the bookmarks file into your new BlackBerry?

Thanks,
Ben

Ben, the "best" way to that will be to have the latest version of Desktop Manager (ver.4.2 Service Pack 1) and use the Switch Device Wizard. It will transfer all your bookmarks, personal settings, etc. Almost everything except some third-party software applications.

Browser bookmarks are stored in the "content store" database along with pictures, ringtones, etc. Simply backup the old phone, then restore that file's specific "content store" database using the Advanced restore feature in Desktop manager.

so does doing a backup thru DM backup bookmarks for later restoring in case they are lost?

I have many bookmarks saved on my pearl and would hate to lose them!

Thanks!

The PIN is specific to each device and can't be changed. Restoring from backup to a new device will just transfer the data to the new device.

Thank you. I successfully transferred my data from my 8700 to my 8300 using Desktop Manager. Appreciate the assistance.

wouldn't it be better to backup and restore only certain databases from one device to the next in case of some device conflicts?

In other words, can't we selectively choose which content to restore to the newer BB>?

If so what else besides "content store" should we be concerned about for backup/restore of vital info? What other files?

Thanks in advance!

Fred, yes you can, but the Switch Device Wiz is soooo easy. I have had no conflicts thus far after moving from my 8700 to 8800. I had not conflicts earlier this year moving my wife from the 7100 to the 8100.

What about getting rid of a bookmark folder? I moved from an 8700c to an 8700e and moved all my bookmarks. Unfortunately it moved my WAP bookmarks folder as well (MediaNet) and I can't seem to delete it.

thanks, but if I was to do it selectively, what other databases should I be concerned with besides content store?

Probably not relevant to the OP's case but if you're on BES, Enterprise Activation will take care of this.

What about information in Passwork Keeper?

Just how much data gets transferred?

I am on a BES so I know that all my email, contacts, memos, etc. will be transferred with a wireless sync but I need ot know what other info will be transfered by swap device.

I plan to move from an 8703e to an 8830 later this week.
