4) register at HRT
5) send service books from tmobile
6) then the bb browser shows up

Good luck!
I tried and had no success.

For me, the 02 OS plus what I did in my earlier post made it work.
Kasper - are you using O2 or At&t?

I'm using an O2 Curve with the O2 OS.

Assuming that I am starting with a stock unlocked cingular 8300 how can I get the o2 OS on there? Is there a link that lays out the process?

I purchased an AT&T unit and unlocked it for use on T-Mo. I registered on the network (actually it did it on its own), went to the T-Mo BIS site and entered my IMEI and PIN. It immediately sent service books which contained all of my email account informaiton. I have one Web icon which when selected, displays the AT&T death star splash screen and then connects to T-Zones. The T-Zones menu is pretty basic (no fancy graphics) but it works and allows you to "Go To" any web address.

I then loaded Opera Mini OTA and am off and running. I also did change my AP to wap.voicestream.com.

Here are the service books I have loaded:

my [email address] (CICAL)
my [email address] (CMIME
Provisioning [PROVISIONING]
IPPP for BIBS [IPPP]
BFFS1 [BBIM Config]
BBFS2 [YHO]
T-Mobile USA WAP Transport [WAP]
MMS Config [WAP]
Wap Push Config [WAPPushConfig]
E-mail setup [BrowserConfig]
T-Mobile USA WAP BrowserConfig [BrowserConfig]

And from the host routing table:

(bold) T-Mobile USA [31026030]

I am using BIS for email access.

Annoying! You're on the same HRT I'm on... and I couldn't get the E-mail setup and WAP BrowserConfig service books!

Hmm... Looks like I need to borrow one of my coworker's 8300s and try again... *fingers crossed*

the problem with mini opera, is when u go to download something, it uses the BB browser and if you dont have it on your bb cause you are unlocked an on tmo using the AT&T software its not gonna work.

seems like the fix is to load the O2 software now..... im about >< close to going to AT&T and buying one now.

FWIW, the two service books really don't do much of anything... since the WAP configuration information is already sent via the other service books.

The E-mail set up [BrowserConfig] service book populates the Applications list with a link entitled "Set up Internet Email" and launches the browser which navigates you to T-Mobile's BIS WAP page. Essentially, this is just a hyperlink.

T-Mobile USA WAP BrowserConfig [BrowserConfig] pre-populates the browser bookmarks with T-Mobile specific upsell links (like ringtones and wallpaper), and, depending on the device series, links to My Account and the BIS WAP page. They're grouped as "t-zones Links" on my 8100. This also places the t-zones icon in the Applications list on the home screen. And, again, it's just a hyperlink.

With a fully functioning device (that is, one with the BlackBerry Internet Browsing Service service book), these aren't necessary... the IPPP for BIBS service book takes care of all the data transfer, and provides the Browser icon in the Applications list. If you delete them, you can still surf.

Fortunately, if you have these, they allow the browser to work without the BIBS service book (which puts the Browser icon in Applications). The T-Mobile USA WAP Transport service book isn't necessary... it's actually used for MMS.

Anyways... just thought I'd post this in case someone was interested in exactly what they do...

I was actually able to download both Opera through the browser using T-Mo service and then download Berry411 through Opera.

You should seriously try installing the O2 operating system. It will more than likely fix your service book issues.

I bought a 8300 from AT&T, I unlocked the 8300 and started using it on the T-Mobile network. I like everyone else had no browser. I called RIM via T-Mobile and they had be download the 8300 software form there web page. Once I did that they had me use the application loader from the blackberry desktop and make sure you as your following the direction on the application loader you click on back up and restore, also make sure you click on wipe and erase unit twice. After that process, that took about 25 minutes to complete, then go to your options, then advanced options, then to host routing table, then sroll down to the bold t-mobile usa, then menu, then register now. After that go to the t-mobile web page and send yourself your service books again, after getting them, take your battery out while your unit is on and put it back, after re-start it took me 5 minutes and i had my browser / t-zones and all began to work just fine.

WOW! what a process, but well worth it. Now this is a fantastic phone. Still waiting for my holster to arrive. What a sham, you buy a phone out of contract for $449 and you dont even get a holster.

To tell you the truth, I know it was a AT&T site, but not sure if it was via the blackberry download page. It was late and I was tired.
