3.2 megapixel camera and WiFi are nice but for me is not worth the upgrade. now if it has GPS, that would be another story.

This is great! I just bought a Pearl knowing the Pearl 2 was coming soon and figured I would be upgrading within a year but looking at the specs... It's a nice upgrade but not really anything I can't live without. I'm surprised there is no GPRS support.

It is a shame about the lack of 3G but I still think this is a a solid upgrade and although I have only had my Pearl for a few months, and very happy with it I might add, I would definitely upgrade.

Is this an EVDO, EDGE or both?

Wondering if TMobile would get it.

Pretty sure that EDGE implies GPRS. Otherwise, you wouldn't be able to leave major cities.

OK, THIS IS AN ALL CAPS BECAUSE I AM SHOUTING, FOR ONCE.

FOR THOSE OF YOU SAYING YOU KNOW WHEN THIS IS COMING OUT, HOW DO YOU KNOW? AND THOSE WHO KNOW WHICH CARRIER WILL BE SELLING IT, HOW DO YOU KNOW?

STATE YOUR SOURCES.

If you know this stuff, state how you know. I don't like seeing members post rumor and gossip as statements of fact.

And if you want to know, why I want to know, how you know, what you posted as being in the know...

I want to know because this is a Pearl "upgrade" I will definitely buy. But I have not seen anywhere on the Net that 1) anyone knows which carrier will get it first; and 2) when it will debut.

Here You go SanFran
I read this on morningpaper.typepad.com/ that Pearl 2 will go to Sprint in Q4. Scroll down towards the end where you'll see Droopy with the Title "Palm Remorse Could Be BlackBerry's Pearl...2"

If you read the Article it is talking about the 8830. The Author has them confused the Pearl and the 8830 "In Q4 of this year Sprint will introduce the new Blackberry Pearl2, and many are stating that they will leave their treo's behind for the new Pearl. Many have written here and else where that they will be snatching up the 8830 as soon as it's available." This is what all the reliable sites are saying. When the new Pearl is released there is a 99.999 % chance it will be a GSM based carrier that gets it, Tmo or ATT. Maybe at the end of Q4 2008 there will be a CDMA Pearl. Writers that don't know what there talking about are easily confused. Stick to The Boy Genius Report or Howard Forums for your news.

You all tease... well at least your post has given me some hope.

I would like to think that because the Pearl debut went so well with T-Mo that RIM would give them a shot at the Pearl 2 too.

Thanks for the post. It stopped me from banging my head on the desk.

So if I wanted to upgrade to the pearl 2, could I just wait for an unlocked one to show up on ebay and then put my current SIM card in there and have it work?
I would be willing to upgrade but whenever I buy a new phone from my provider, they add an additional 2 years up onto my contract so I would end up having 4-5 more years stacked up and I don't want that.
