Please Login to Remove!

You're not "finishing" the installation. Just try it. Replace the edited blackberry.alx file with your original one. Run Application Loader ALL the way through to the end. You'll see that it will remove the "unrecognized" modules.

John -- guess what? You're right. But you knew that! When I saw "None" listed in the application loader under the changes to be made, I just quit. Persistence, as always, has its rewards.

I've been a Windows Mobile user for a long time and this is my first BB. Gonna take some time before I can hammer into the OS with skill and understanding. Thanks for helping. And thanks for the file with the unlocked themes in it.

Larry

im trying this as we speak, my bb is at the 2nd to last step, doing the first reboot after loading java applications. how long does this reboot take?

edit: its now at a white screen with what looks to be an etrade symbol. this probably means its not bricked :-D

edit again: i think all is well! this is my first time with any berry hacking, so dont be too hard on me!

Larry

I just wanted to say thanks guys. I struggled with the same thing and thanks to you guys posting the conversation. It helped me about a bunch. Kudos.

There's a bug in this firmware though. When you play music and brickbreaker at the same time and then you break a brick it stops the music.

Hello,

This might be a stupid question but I cannot track down any topics addressing this.

What is the easiest way to load in a new OS on my curve using my mac laptop? I read that pocketmac can load applications but can it also be used to load in a new OS? Also am I able to delete/edit the proper files for the os load to work using a mac?

You need a Windows installation to be able to upgrade the firmware. There is no way to upgrade the firmware using PocketMac.

Default AT&T Push to Talk

"After upgrading to the Rogers OS, has anyone had any problems with their AT&T Push-to-Talk? Does it still work?"...I posted this earlier, but I guess no one had an answer. Has anybody figured it out?

I'm curious, is it consider better to have higher platform or apps? The only reason I ask is TM UK has it's Curve software up the apps are .90 however the platform is only .35 the whole package is labelled lower than Rogers at .188. So the only higher part is the apps!

SOoooooooooooo, is there a NEW software yet? what is this OS by Roger?> is that really something diff than the one that comes with the BB 8300? should I install it?
this problem is really Crazy! it makes the upgrade from the 8700c a BIG mistake. i have also spent time on the phone with those guys from RIM and they have no answer but keep you on the phone for over an hour, they SUX for that.

Let me know anyone please if you have nay info at all.

I found the differences between the Rogers OS and the at&t OS to be very minimal. The only major difference I saw after the OS update was my BlackBerry was more responsive. There were no more lags especially when opening media stored on the MicroSD card.

So do we need edited platform and lbs files as well?

I know that jibi typically updates his site to reflect these new OSes. Is he not doing that anymore? It seems like the 8300 software is two versions old.

I know he doesn't have to do it, I am just curious if I should be relying on that site anymore. Does anyone know?

I'm not a Cingular at&t subscriber I am a Rogers Wireless subscriber in Canada and I edited the platform file to get rid of PTT as Rogers does not support it and I had to edit the LBS file to get BBMaps to work on my unlocked at&t branded BlackBerry Curve.

So what edits do you have to make to the files?

For the LBS file I removed vendor ID 102 so BBMaps would show up on my BlackBerry Curve. For the platform file I followed the instructions in this thread: http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...t-rid-ptt.html to get rid of PTT as I don't need it.

Does Rogers OS on ATT 8300 running on TMO network show Wifi options? I would like someone to confirm before I upgrade. Right now running ATT OS and wifi icon is missing.

Thanks.

8300 does not have Wi-Fi
