Wirelessly posted (8703e Sprint: BlackBerry8703e/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/104)

Depends on your carrier. You should contact your carrier and verify (preferably in writing).

I think that is incorrect. BlackBerry Messenger uses PIN messaging (data) as well. If you have a bb data plan (which you must to send PIN messages) then sending bb messenger messages doesnt cost you anything.

Unless you don't have an unlimited data plan (not everyone is in the US) and you exceeded your monthly data allotment.

Yes. (Although that's a crap answer.)
They're not "free" because you are paying for your Unlimited Data Plan.
They're just included in that.
They don't cost any extra than what you're already paying.

Retarded? Once you have a BB you can quit having other friends. You have married the device. You won't even need other friends. Your addiction to the BB will grow and the "friends" you once had will be gone. Only your BB will remain as your true friend. Yea, I said it would never happen to me, haahahahahahahahah

Texting does not fall under IMing. Some instant message applications use text (SMS) messages, some use data (internet).
