In my opinion, the Gmail app is the best.

Default GMail

I was in a similar position a few months ago and also asked for advice. The overwhelming response was "GMail." I tried it and stuck with it. It works quickly and flawlessly for me. And it's free.

Like any other question, "best" depends on your needs. I'd say BES is best (especially since you're looking for full reconciliation) but most people aren't willing to pay the added cost.

gmail's the next best option, IMO.

i'd go with Gmail. who cares about the sync read/unread? you can have a setting on Gmail that archives everything anyway. i like having it not sync'd b/c sometimes i'll read it on my blackberry and not have time to reply, then i'll go back on my computer and forget to reply (it's happened with my other IMAP account)

Both are good. I like gmail's spam filter better, though.

When you say sync read/unread, is that like sync'ing straight off the web, or are you downloading Yahoo mail into Outlook?

I pray every night that someday Gmail will allow sync'ing of their mail, calendar, notes, etc. If that were coming, I would be a happier geek. I hate having to sync my contacts from Gmail into Outlook and then into BB (unless you know another way). I think if you export contacts from Gmail INTO Outlook, they don't display "nicely", so I'm going to try it the other way around...make my Outlook as up to date as possible and then import the file into Gmail.

gMail does sync if you use the stand-alone application instead of fetching by POP3 or forwarding.
