I have poured over this site and was unsuccessful in getting the answer to my following question: If you try 10 times to unlock a 7290 and are unsuccessful, does the phone become killed permanently (permanently locked) or just until the software is re installed? There is a security lock on this phone. I think the information will be wiped from te phone but the phone will be useful again once the software is re installed. I just hate to hit #10 and say "Oh gee". Thanks
The choices are: Unlock, Emergency Calls, Cancel. I would call that screen option a result of a security lock and not a carrier lock.

Are you referring to the BlackBerry lock or the carrier subsidy unlock?

For the BlackBerry lock, if you enter it ten times, it will wipe out all customer data, but you can use the BB. On older models the software was deleted, but I think that does not occur on newer models.

For the carrier unlock, if you enter the subsidy unlock code incorrectly a certain number of time, the phone is permanently locked to the original carrier, but it will still work.

I love the feeling of unlocking a phone.

I have managed to get the unlock code from my operator.

But they say if I unlock it, the warranty is voide. As in they are not responsible for anything going wrong with the handset, even though I bought the handset from my operator.

Is it possible to lock the handset with the same unlock code, after unlocking it once?

Nope. Once unlocked it's unlocked.
