A basic graphite/metal theme such as I had for the 8700 from plazmic would be fantastic.

The new version of the Theme Builder from RIM is still do for release. Until that happens there really won't be any good 8800 series themes. This is because the current version supports 8700 and 8100 themes... capish?

Default 8800 theme i use

I just created a background image for use with the BB Dimension Icon theme because I got sick of waiting for something decent to come out for the 8800. It works pretty nicely for me and is nice and clean. I'm not a huge fan of the icons in Dimension but it's the best I've been able to find without creating a theme myself, which I have zero desire to learn/do. I use BB Clarity font set to 7pt.

Incidentally, I saw on another forum someone mention that the Cingular theme is the best - I agree, but the problem is that you can't change the background to get rid of the clouds on top and bottom of the screen. Yes, you can change the background image to something other than the clouds but it only fills the center space and you're stuck with the cloud borders. If anyone knows how to get around this I'd appreciate the info because I'd love to go back to that theme with the same type of background below.

Thanks for that! Better than the plain black one I created but still simple.

I love the T Mobile Zen theme and swap several different backgrounds. Here's one:

Default iBerry

Although it has a few issues on the 8830, the iBerry 1.1 theme is the best in my opinion. The home screen has great contrast for bright days and it is easy to understand the icons.

I "like" the Verizon theme, however, I most definitely prefer the Zen theme.

It's a bit silly that RIM doesn't package the handset with software to create your own themes or download new ones...very limiting for such a highly customizable device, if you ask me. I know that new themes will be available over time, but it would be nice to have a sweeter options package built in from day one.

But I still "love" my 8830.
