Default O2 UK Unlimited Data Plan?

Please Login to Remove!

I've got my first real BlackBerry now - purchased the Curve on the O2 unlimited data plan at the weekend. Just been re-reading the site and it seems it is unlimited data plan for some things but not for others.

I have TwitterBerry, Google Mail, Google Talk installed as well as Maps and Browser. Does anyone have any ideas if usage of these will be included in the standard amount? I've avoided using Opera Mini because that uses the mobile.o2.co.uk APN which I think will be charged for.

Thanks

hey m8,
yeah u can basically use everything that connects using the blackberry.net
anything that requires you to connect via apn, of mobile.o2.co.uk will be charged at £3, per mb.

Where is Trevolly when you need him...(O2 Store Manager).
I have the O2 Unlimited Plan, and i use Opera, among loads of other programs and I have never been charged anything but my £10 per month...except when i was abroad in France....

BTW - The unlimited is a Fair Usage Policy that stands at 75mb per mth.

Default Opera mini on O2 unlimited

tmag2005 (or anyone else!)

How did you run your OperaMini on O2 without getting charged ? I just realised that using OperaMini on the APN mobile.o2.co.uk gets me a large bill :( The Blackberry browser really sucks & I'll be really unhappy if I can't use OperaMini with my unlimited data plan without getting stung for it

Thanks
Dave

I'm in exactly the same position. Been using Opera all month and only now have I found out that I'm being charged for that. Never told that when I signed up. VERY angry.

In Opera 4 beta 2 (don't know about earlier versions) you can select the protocol to be either HTTP or Socket - might this do what you want if you change it to Socket? I don't know as I have unlimited data, but you could try it and remove the APN for O2 and see what happens. Note that some people have suggested a battery pull is needed after changing APN settings.
