Default A little help with error after moving from MSDE to SQL

Please Login to Remove!

Moved db from BES server local MSDE to our SQL server. Attached database, changed db server in BEServer Manager and BEServer Config. When services restarted I have the following error-

Database schema is not not complete. Run Config tool to update it
Stopping BlackBerry

Trying to start the Dispatcher service. It then stops.

BES 4.0, Exchange 2000. Previous to the db move everything was working fine.
I followed these directions to move the db-

Simple really. Shut down the BES services and stop msde. Find the besmgmt ldf and mdf files on the msde machine and copy them to the data directory of the sql machine. Then open up SQL manager and attach those databases (right click attach database if i recall). Then fire up BES mgmt console (it may say cant connect to db) and point it towards the new database. Start services and should be cool.
just remember there are 2 places to change settings for the BES. one is in BlackBerry Manager and the other is in BlackBerry Server Configuration (i think thats the right name... both are in the start menu). the latter is the main place to change it (or you can do as greywolfe stated), but the first one will have to be changed if you want to get the correct information in BB Manager or Handheld Configuration Tool.

db owner is/was correct

I searched Blackkberry's site and could not find that error. Not sure what "Config tool" it is refering to above and beyond running the BES configuration wizard. I will have to open a call with them. I reverted back to the MSDE db in the mean time...

I just got through the same problem. Here's what to do:

1. Shut down BES servers.

2. On the MSDE server, run OSQL -E (if using windows nt authentication) or OSQL -U <username> -P <password>

> BACKUP database BESMgmt TO DISK = "c:\BESMgmt-backup.bak"
> Go

3. Detach the BESMgmt database from the SQL server
4. Delete the BESMgmt from the file system.
5. Run the BlackBerry Server Configuration from the BES server
6. Enter the SQL server name and BESMgmt for db name. Make sure the SQL ID has db create rights in SQL. You don't have to go through the entire setup by adding the SPR and such. Just enough to create the db.
7. On the SQL server, restore the BESMgmt backup over the BESMgmt database. Right click on the db and select All Tasks - Restore
8. Create whatever user and servre IDs you need, making sure they are in the bes server role, can't recall the exact name.

Then you should be golden. Apparently BES makes some changes to the master table in SQL, which is why just moving the database isn't enough.

sparticat, i just went through some steps in order to do a HOWTO for the forum. i'm posting it now. mine is for SQL to SQL server migration, but it should be the same from MSDE 2000 to SQL 2000.

pista is correct on all accounts, except 3 and 4 wouldn't necessarily be needed.
