Default Seidio Case/Holster Combo. Which One?

Please Login to Remove!

I'm sure there are a few Seidio customers here than can help me out.

I'm torn between which combo to buy:

Hybrid Case & Holster (Clear front, Black Back, Black Holster)

or the Rubberized Black Case & Holster (Black front, Black Back, Black Holster)

I know these are both great products, and I'm leaning towards the Hybrid Case. But my main concern is that the clear part of the hybrid case isn't rubberized, hence it is suseptible to scratching the actual unit. Is that true?

Another thing is... I have the the OEM black Leather holster already from BlackBerry. Is it worth just using that, and getting just the case from seidio? If the Seidio holster really works better, I will gladly use it and pay for it. But whether it is better than the OEM case is my concern.

If it were me, I'd go with the Hybrid Case & Holster... No reason really other than personal preference...

Like I said in my first post, since the clear plastic isn't rubberized, is there a chance it will scratch the unit?

It will be fine and unless you get a defective one it should not cause any damage to the device...

I had the all-black one for my Pearl, and I have the Hybrid for my Curve.

My Pearl got scratched quite a bit around the earpiece where the case goes over the high-polish plastic. It's kind of hard to avoid - if the case plastic has even a fraction of a millimeter of flex in it, it slowly wears the surface because it is completely flush to the surface.

With the all-black case, I didn't see the scratches until I removed it. It didn't impair my ability to sell the Pearl however.

With the hybrid case on the Curve, I have some very minor scratching (more like single worn dot, not a linear scratch) at a pressure point or two around the earpiece where use of the phone causes the case to move over it.

However, it is my observation that the Hybrid case isn't scratching as much specifically because the clear plastic is so hard and rigid - it has much less flex than the black plastic of the all-black case. The key thing is that even though the black plastic has a bit more flex, and has a "soft touch" - it is by no means rubber. The outside is "soft" to the fingers, but inside it's hard plastic.

I thought both cases were great, and they saved both phones from total destruction repeatedly, including drop-bounces on pavement. So I'm not bothered by tiny scratches that are under the case anyways - you can't see them, because of the case!

I'd go with the 2nd option.
