Default Extended Battery

Has anyone had any experience with the 1600mh battery being sold for the 8830 by Seidio, it claims that there is a 10-15% life gain, any feedback would be appreciated.

What would you like to know? It gives about 15% greater life and there is no difference in the form factor.

I would be interested in that answer as well. With both batteries being the same size, I cannot see where they are getting an additional 10-15% life gain. I had the 8703e before, and bought the extended battery with the revised battery cover as well, and was more than happy with the performance. We need something similar for both the 8800 and 8300 series.

Default More info

Just want to know if anyone has first hand experience with this battery, does it really last longer than the one that comes with the 8830?

Any answers would be subjective as 10-15% is kinda hard to realise in day to day use. Battery makers make all kind of claims and I really do not see how you are going to get much more out of the same size battery using the same chemistry. He claims they are higher quality batteries.

I say you will not notice 10-15%. I come home and put mine on charge at the end of the day with more than 50% after pretty heavy use, I like the OEM for me.

Seidio is a pretty reputable company. My guess is that the battery is just slightly larger but not enough that the battery door won't fit. I ordered one for my 8320 and when I get it I'll try and remember to post back what I find. I agree it would be pretty hard to do a side by side comparison on how long it lasts. I've always used the extended battery with the bigger battery door but decided not to with the 8320, so I went the standard sized ext. battery this time.

Default Seidio Slim Battery Answers

What a person will see out of this battery would most likely be subjective because very few of us do the exact same thing every day on our phones. That being said, the 10-15% we state is not just a claim, but an actual scientific measurement used to rate the capacity of a lithium battery (mAhs). OEMs won't typically use large capacity batteries because of cost, but stating that it's impossible to put more power into a battery of the same size simply isn't correct. That's similar to saying that it's impossible to put 200GB into a 2.5in hard drive because Dell installed a 160GB. We are obviously limited to the constraints of technology, but we will always maximize our batteries to their fullest potential. While we were only able to increase this battery from 1380mah to 1600mAh, we crammed 2600mAh into a battery the same size as Palm's 1800mAh. Simply stated, if you average 10 hours of life on your battery, you should see an extra hour to an hour and a half. For some of you, this is just the extra push you need to get you through the day. For the rest of you, you'll either need to jump to our larger battery when it's available or keep a charger handy.

Thanks

I get a day and a half rather than just one day with extremely heavy use. I am very happy with this battery.

I was interested too because there are some days where I can't make it home or to a charger. I will have to test the waters for a few more days, JIC.

Thank you for that very clear response. I ordered the battery this morning with 2-day shipping and I'm PRAYING it gets here by Thursday since I'm leaving on a trip early Friday morning. I'll report back with the results...

Charge it fully before using. And top off frequently during its first week with you.

Thanks for the offer. I actually just got an email indicating that it was shipped and when I checked the tracking info I saw that it actually shipped yesterday and will be here tomorrow! That's a day earlier than I expected, so I'm a very happy camper. Thanks again for your offer to help. It's nice to have someone from the company to bounce comments, ideas and info off of on this forum.
