Just thought I'd let you all know...

Sounds like TMO has improved their upgrade pricing if you call in and talk to a CSR. I'm 18 months into a two year contract.

When the 8320 was released, I spent some time on the phone with them and couldn't get anything better than $399. Then they reduced to $349 on line so I called again and was told they couldn't do any better.

Called a CSR today and he first offered $349. I mentioned the new 8310 from AT&T and he said "yeah, the cool red one." Told him I could get one for $0 after rebates which could make it worth the early term fee to TMO. He said, "let me see what I can do."

He got me $249 (same as a new activation), two year extension (effectively 18 months from my old contract), and free express shipping.

It pays to be a little patient and wait for the initial furor to die down.

The discount you get will change based on the time you've been in your current contract and the last time you did a handset upgrade. Once you get to 22 out of 24 months in a 2-year contract you get the best possible discount. It's 11 out of 12 months on a 1-year contract.

I'm still only 18 months from the last upgrade, and was given the same deal as a new customer.

That price (after rebate) is what was being offered for 2 year upgrades (past 22 months) a couple of weeks ago. It's nice that you can get it before 22 months.
