Default Strange Message in Log, should I worry?

Please Login to Remove!

We are in the process of evaluating BBs and as such have installed BES 4.1.4.12 Small Business, the free download, and installed it on a box along with a Domino server, v7.0.2 and so far all has gone well.

Had a strange occurence yesterday afternoon, when one of my users testing BBs had a message on his BB saying:

Quote:
From: System Attendant
Subject: The BES was unable to process amessage. You can still view this message in your desktop email program.
BlackBerry Service Message
Looking in the Domino log for the same period i can see the following:

Quote:

Can anyone shed any light on this as to why it happened and what i need to do, if anything, to prevent future occurences.

I wouldn't worry about it. The message probably has an attachment that was too large, or unfamilar to the BlackBerry.
We've also seen this type of message when an email is malformed, or encrypted in some way that BlackBerry doesn't understand.

Were you able to view the message in the Notes client? Was it "different" in some way than a normal email message?

Spot on penguin, large attachment.

Issue solved, user in question is Domino admin and he had copied a large inbound email, 32Mb attachment, to a local replica of his mail file, edited said attachment and then zipped it for onward transmission.

The mail file was then replicated to the server later in the afternoon thus putting a 32Mb attachment on the server version of the mail file which was obviously picked up by the BlackBery Agent which attempted to send it to the HH.

Just FYI, we have a similar log message every now and then. In our case, it is caused by Notes "E-Mails" that are not E-Mails, but Notes "Forms". Our E-Mail is heavily customized and integrated with many Notes databases, with Notes agents send Forms to user's mailbox. We have put in place some filters to block this type of E-Mail which is not-readable by BES anyway.
