Default Contacts lookup on BES and Domino

Please Login to Remove!

Hey

We have a BES and Domino environment, and we are now trying lookups towards contacts in Domino.
We have setup Directory Assistance on the Domino server, witch automatically include Names.nsf.

We want to do a lookup towards the Domino server, that does not include people in names.nsf, only people in secondary address books . Is that possible?

Ulf

Default yes

Yes you can do that, BES supports directory assistance. I beleive you need the additional NABS on the BES but it's all in the admin guide

Yes, but I think that the directory assistance has to include names.nsf.
Is that not true ?

No, you do not need to include Names.nsf within Directory Assistance. This Default Domino Directory is assumed. Only the additional DD's need to be added.

Can't do this without modifying names.nsf.

So do you keep the Person document in names.nsf updated with contact information, addresses, phone numbers etc ?
Before we started with Blackberry we kept that information in other systems, and not in names.nsf.

Ulf, BES uses NotesAPI calls that will first look at matching entries in the default NAMES.NSF. If DA is setup, it will then also find for matching entries in the additional directories. The answer to your question is "NO" because of the design (i.e. existing BES code)... unless someone else here have some kind of registry hack to bypass the look-up in the primary NAMES.NSF.

We started to move contact info into the names.nsf person docs a while back to facilitate the BB lookup feature. Here is a mapping of the fields that are returned by a lookup:

We have a custom written agent that pulls from our HR system db.

We do the same thing. We also pull the office phone number from the db that telecom uses.

Thats what we have done to. There should be an easier way to do this. You should be able to set any database as the one BES would do the lookup in.
It's a little messy to write to names.nsf.
