Default Help me find this app?

Please Login to Remove!

Hoping someone can help me find this - my co-worker has a weather icon on his pearl and when you highlight it it shows the current temperature (in text) at the bottom of the screen. When you click the icon, it takes your to the bb browser and shows a graphical 5 day forecast on the screen. It says it's powered by Accuweather, however there is a blackberry banner across the top of the screen that displays the forecast.

He said he just found it one day and loaded it. I have looked on the Blackberry site, in Blackberry Help in the Blackberry owners lounge, on Accuweather.com and for the life of me I can not find this app. Does anyone know what or where it is? It looks like it came from Blackberry given the Blackberry banner across the screen.

I realize there are some paid services from Accuweather and The Weather Network but this is a non-subscription service. It's quite handy.

Can anyone point me in the right direction?

It's probably BBWeather (Free app) here is the OTA link:

Thanks but I don't think this is it. In fact, I could not even get this running on my pearl and I am about 1000 times more technical than the guy who was this mystery app.

I know for a fact it's powered by Accuweather - this seems to be powered by weather.com.

Does anyone know?

Check this thread. It mentions Accuweather.

Why don't you go with this guy and see if the app has the name on it? You can check on the installed software, i'm sure you'll find something there

Go to Push Services on your BB Browser and you will be able to have that feature on your phone.

Thanks, but the problem was the service couldn't find any of the cities I was entering close to me.

I instead left "City" blank and just entered my state. It then listed the cities available...only 10 in the entire state of NJ.

That is one disadvantage that I have found w/the push services; not enough cities listed!

Guys - Thanks so much for your help. Push services was it!

I have no idea how I missed that - I thought I had poured over every possible link.

Once again thanks for your help. Much appreciated.

+1

I believe it's Push Weather as well. You can open your Browser and point it to http://mobile.blackberry.com/MBC/ and you should see a link to subscribe to Push Weather at the bottom of the page under Push Services.

Personnally, I think BBWeather is a much better weather app.

Yea, it's basically just an icon on your home screen showing the current temp and condition. Clicking on the icon simply brings you to the web page.

I've unsubscribed and just bookmarked the webpage.

Tried BB Weather but it kept freezing my blackberry and giving me some message about an "exception error".

Also wasn't terribly clear how I enter my "city code".

Is there a modern version of bbweather? The only one I've been able to find was Beta 0.74 updated 2 1/2 years ago. That is positively ancient.

Go to ASP.NET Resources - Determine location ID for the weather server control and enter your city name in the search field and you'll find your LocationID to use with BBWeather.

Version 0.74 appears to me to be the most recent version of BBWeather. It's the only one listed on the dev site.

I just entered my Zip Code for BBWeather, and it worked fine...on the link you posted above, FastZ, the web page in fact says that Zip Codes (postal codes, literally) are already valid location IDs.

One issue w/BBWeather on the Pearl is that BBWeather is formatted for the widers screens on the larger Blackberries...so its display is a little too wide for the Pearl. You can see both single day (default) or switch to a five-day forecast view. You can also request to "update now."

Nice app...I'm using BB Weather for daily view, but like the push weather "The Weather Network" for a five-day forecast all on one screen.

That's true, it does say that. I tried a thousand times to use my zip code for the locationID, but it never worked for me until I put in the locationID I got from that site. Dunno. I guess try your zip code first, if that doesn't work, try the locationID from that site. I also had to check the Disable MDS Proxy checkbox before I could get BBWeather to work.
