I also have some hearing loss, and although I have my Profile set to "Loud"...the earpiece volume of my new 8310 is definately lower than my 8300 was.

If there is a "hearing impaired" option...it would be awesome for someone to tell me, and the OP how to set it. I would love for my earpiece to be even a little bit louder...

Thanks!!

Specs for the 8310 note M3, T3 ratings for hearing aids.

The help menu states in telecoil mode, the magnetic signal of the device is modified to an appropriate level and frequency response to be picked up by hearing aids that are equipped with telecoils.

Go to your phone app (press the green button), then select phone options menu. There's an entry for Hearing Aid Mode which needs to be set to Telecoil.

The H-T telecoil indicator appears in the device status section of the screen.

Hokie123:

You got a little to technical for me. I do not wear a hearing aide. I was just wondering if the hearing aide option will increase the volume of the earpiece and speakerphone beyond nornmal, simply to make the phone even louder. If it does then I am going to use the Hearing Aide Mode. Please chime in

Sorry for the delayed reply. No, the hearing aide option does not increase the volume as far as I know.

The M rating relates to microphone setting for hearing aids, and the T is for telecoil setting.

Just for the record...I posed this "Volume Increase" question on two other BlackBerry-specific forums, and have tried every setting, situation, and "voodoo chicken dance" that was recommended...with absolutely zero increase in any area.

With the Profile set to "Loud"...the default volume setting at 100%...and the side volume button turned up to maximum...

...that seems to be the loudest that the 83xx will get. Sad, but true.

Mine is still very usable, and acceptable...but more would be more better!!

Davis, have you seriously looked at louder ringtones?
There are some good ones here:

I think the posts to this thread are mainly concerned with the volume of the phone during a conversation, not just the ringtones.

The only other thing I can think of is trying other OS versions to see if any software enhancements might make a difference.

Thanks for the offer to help, JS. But, my concern was more regarding the incoming call earpiece speaker volume, rather than the ringtone volume...which seem adequate to me.

And, like I have said...I am still happy with my Curve, and not about to pitch it because of this issue. Just a little bit more adjustment would be a welcome addition though...
