Default Zip-Linq car charger doesn't work???

Please Login to Remove!

I use a Zip-Linq car power to USB adapter for all my portable device charging needs. I have a matching zip-linq cable for each device, it all works together very nice and is compact to carry.

However, the 7100t just plain doesn't work with it. The charge indicator appears for a second or so, then goes away. I've tried this with two different car-to-USB adapters, and two different USB cables (one zip-linq style, one the OEM cable).

any ideas why this is happening? It's really cramping my action to not be able to charge my phone in the car.

I appreciate the reply, but that's not really the question.

WHY is the question.

USB is a standard connection, the amount of power provided on the bus is supposed to be the same whether it's a laptop, pc, or power adapter.

I got this reply from BoxWave which sells a Dual USB/FireWire car charger that does not work with a BlackBerry 7100t. I believe (but have not tested) that any cable which is Mini USB 5 will work with the 7100t, but you need a car adapter that supports whatever funky charging that the 7100t uses.

-- E-mail from BoxWave --

I am sorry to inform you that to our knowledge the Blackberry 7100t does not charge through any of our Chargers - as indicated on our website. Due to the configuration of the Blackberry, we were unable to create a device that would charge through any of our Chargers. For this reason, none of our Chargers are listed as being compatible with the Blackberry 7100t. I apologize for the inconvenience this may have caused you.
