Hi Guys,

I want to try something on my BES and can't seem to find a way of doing it. We're going to have a contractor working for us for a few weeks and I want to give him a BlackBerry while he's here. I want to remove the lookup feature on his BlackBerry but can't find a way of doing it. Using the IT policy on the BES I notice you can remove features such as PIN 2 PIN messaging but nothing for the GAL. Anybody thnk they can have a pop at this one?!?!?!? Version 4.0 BES on Ex 2003 by the way!

I'm needing to do the same thing for a handful of users. There is an article on RIM's knowledge base that tells you how to disable it for all users, but I want to disable it for just a few. Anyone else been able to do this?

IT Policy I would think, although nothing specific comes to mind.

No option in the IT Policy settings. It appears that the only way to do it is for all users, sucks because it's good for higher level users and admins to be able to lookup anyone..

It's definately not in the IT policy which is odd because you can disable PIN to PIN messaging, cut, copy, paste and all that rubbish, but not the GAL.

The GAL lookup can be disabled in the registry only. Please check the blackBerry support page - the is a HowTo published.

It is all or none. RIM has confirmed this with me. However they did say that it is a good suggestion and I should send the suggestion to [email address]

for consideration in future releases. So if any of you are so inclined email them the suggestion. I have.
