Default BIS to Exchange and BES (I think)

Please Login to Remove!

Hey All,

Been lurking for a while and I have a couple of questions I hope someone can steer me in the right direction.

Presently all of our email is handled via Pop3 (outside service). I have 2 domains with 10 BB users some needing access to email on both domains. BIS has been working well for us (VZW). Have been wanting to try a hosted exchange & BES solution for a while.

It has been driving me nuts that I cannot sync contacts, calendar and email between my 2 BB's (8830 during the week and 8130 on week ends) and my lap top and desk top. (yes too many gadgets).

As I understand it I can use a hosted exchange service (split domain) and try this route for syncing on just 1 of my email addresses. Will this sync icalendar, contact and email between my desk top and lap top?

Also I think I cannot have 2 BES emails on a single BB so I would need to use BES on domain 1 on BB 1 and set up BES on domain 2 for BB 2. Will this allow both BB's and desktop and lap top to sync?

Thanks for your patience with the newbie questions.

You are right about 1 BB per BES account. In regards to the wireless sync, whatever is on the Exchange server will sync to your BB. So contacts, calendar, notes and tasks will be wireless. IF your laptop does not speak with that Exchange server then anything on the laptop would have to be on your BB which will then sync with the Exchange.

Hope that helps.

Default stupid questions round 2

Thanks for the reply.

So both desk top and laptop just need to have a single exchange connection (i.e. 1 email address) in order to sync calendar, contacts, tasks and that email (sent, received detleted, etc.).

I use subfolders in Outlook inbox to organize mail I want to keep (until I archive it). Will the email in those folders sync as well? Or only the email in those folders which are from the account running through exchange server.

Sorry to be dense but I am trying to get my head around the hosted exchange before I even try to tackle BES.

When you are added to the BES just the Inbox is set to direct mail but the BESAdmin can select any folders you want prior to the activation, or after you are activated you can select folders in your mailbox from your BB that you want directed. Just got to Messages> Options> Email Settings> Click trackball> Folder Redirection, you will only see that option when you are active on the BES.
