I am moving from a Treo to Blackberry due to recent BES implementation in our company.

Is there any TakePhone like Software for Blackberry that would allow for Calling Card Programming ( Country based calling cards etc.). I found that eoffice may be able to do it, but I dont need all the other features, just need simple calling card dialing features.

I think the built in Phone program on the BB has those type of feeatures already available.

You can dial the CC # and include waits and pauses from the address book.

In BB you have to program each number.

In a takephone like software, you would be able to setup a Calling Card for Each prefix of the phone number..

Lets say my contact is located in india ..and his cell nUmber is 91-40-12312312

Per my understanding, In BB you have to put the number as [1-866-xxx-xxxx]+pause+[91-40-12312312]. This would mean updating all the numbers and not being able to sync up with Corp Directory. Also a change in calling card would require everything to be updated.

In Takephone like software, there would just be one entry that says for all calls headed to country code 91, predial the calling card and then dial the actual number. So, my corporate address book entries can be used as they are sync'd without having to change them.

Try going into the phone program on the BB and go to options.

Then go to smart dialing and see if you can accomplish what you're trying to do there.

Is the goal of using a calling card rather than just direct dialing from the BB to save money because the calling card rate is cheaper than the international calling plan on the BB?

Yes, in somecases 15Cents on Calling Card vs $1 on BB international plan

You can get eWorks only and it has the calling card feature. I use it all the time and it is great for travelling - you can enter one CC for US, one for Europe etc and it selects the card based on the prefix of the phone number.
