i had ramble and the weather program running great for a full day. now when i try to run them im getting BAD DNS address. anyone know why ? i have blackberry 7250 with alltel. thanks.

My bb does it every now and then. I normally try to reconnect and it works. When it doesn't I turn the bb off and back on again, and away it goes.

just spent an hour on the phone with someone at alltel. we tried several things. he told me if these programs require a wap access then they won't allow it. does anyone know if they require a wap access ? thanks

I have the same issue with my BB 7290 on the AT&T Network. They do not allow the connection. I was totally bummed when I found this out. I would not have spent the money on the BB if I knew I could not do it. Anyway, I have gotten over it for now..

i don't think that is my case, it worked for a full day, then just stopped out of nowhere, actually i think i might have pressed the 3 button reset. and now it's not working ...

try to reinstall the programs or a hard reset or a master radio reset try all of them it should work

still doesn't work, even reloaded the OS. this is making me very mad. i get bad dns with every program except blackberry messenger. bbweather, IM+, Verichat, ramble. all of it.

have you tried deleting all of your service books except for the desktop one and then resetting your BB?

ramble should use tcp and direct connect to the AIM server.

IM+ has a wap software option and a BES option, both in the same zip file for download

mostly your provider should have an APN (access point network) to allow you Internet and TCP connectivity. VZW and some others, maybe alltel included, have an access point preconfigured.

I have the same issue with my 7250 on Telus. Telus told me they block the ports and I am unable to get this 3rd party content.

but mine worked for a day... alltel said they didn't block it. but who the hell knows. everyone i call there is stupid.

No you go into
Options
Service Book
Click the wheel in on each entry (I wouldnt do desktops or web client)
then select delete. After you have done this you can remove the battery
and put it back in and your service books will repopulate and hopefully
you will be able to use these apps.

did that, still didn't work, got same error : Invalid Connection String: Bad DNS Address

Alltel does not support WAP at this time. We are looking into the possibility on enabling it. We are working with the developers to help rewrite the programs to work without using WAP such as dynoplex which works fine on our Blackberries now. Plus I think calling us stupid is not called for nor does it solve anything on your issue. This Forum was created to help each other out not flame the opposing guy. We are trying to solve this issue and we are currently looking into enabling this protocol. I will not gurantee that and if you purchased this software through Handago they will refund your money on these applications. Also we are partenered with handago on offering software that does work with our blackberry devices and that store should be coming soon.
