Alright, here we go again.........
I am sitting here looking at this pearl, right? It has an envelope at the top screen with the number 16 by it like I have 16 emails or text messages. They are BOTH empty. Whassup with that?

Are you sure it's Messages and not Voice Mails? If it is messages then see:

It was the call log ALTHOUGH I cleared it out through "view folders" under email. I've noticed that sometimes when I clear the call log, they're still there. Hmmm.

You can turn off call logging which only affects the envelope on the screen and the logs being in your default message folder, in other words you still do have a call log. To access the call log go to messages and hit alt+p and your call log will be there. I know this works because this is how I've had it set up for over a year now. I prefer not to delete my call log in case I need to find a phone number from weeks or months past.
