Well I eased the shock a little by ordering a housing kit for a 7250, which some of our users still have, along with the keyboard. Got both for 9.28 shipping.

The more I work with this device, the more I am willing to pay. I cannot read the damn keyboard in "normal' lighting conditions. Maybe that is why they have voice dialing?

I would settle for just turning off the keyboard blue lights. Anybody have any insight into doing that? I am starting to not like this thing.

I bought the 8830 black housing from CNN and was very pleased with the purchase. I hated myself for losing my phone. Now I have to buy it again. I have been waiting for this forever to be back on stock. Guess what's back?

Hope this helps.

I purchased just the keyboard from them yesterday. I think the black keys with white letters might be easier to see and the blue light special should have been reserved for Walmart!!

I changed my silver 8830 to all black about a month ago, and the keys are absolutely easier to read than those lousy blue/silver keys. Oh, the blue light special was Kmart.

I have not gotten the BLACK keyboard yet. I my case, I'm not sure that I would notice the black keyboard much since my 8830 in encased in an Otterbox and not much silver shows. Some tiny amount of silver trim will be visible.

The big thing will be: "do I have the guts to actually start the dissassembly!"

Just ordered my black housing and QWERTY keyboard from CNN a few minutes ago. Total with 7 to 10 day shipping was $57.88. I've had my silver 8830 about a month now and I agree the blue keyboard is awful. I can't wait to get the black case on.

I got an email that mine (keyboard only) has shipped. As mentioned above and by others - opening it will be a test of courage!

I changed out mine to the all black about 4-5 months ago. It really was a piece of cake. Promise.
