Default T-mobile 8820 DOA???

Please Login to Remove!

Hello,

So I received my shiny new 8820 in the mail today. I use 8320 and was planning on giving it to my wife after update. I booted up the phone, charged it, inserted my SIM card- the phone does not recognize it!!! Pulled it out, put it back in 8320- no problem, service as usual. Repeted- still no luck with 8820. Did a battery pull, checked software version off T-mobile website- nothing. Called T-mobile CS- was asked if I checked the handheld software version. I said yes. The guy said "ok, you have a dead phone, please send it back to us".

Any other thoughts before I head to UPS???

Thanks all.

I agree. I wouldn't go to any trouble to troubleshoot beyond what you've done already, rjdoc74.

I just checked one more thing: Network Services are on, and when are checked the Network Status it says "AT&T". Should I try updating the software from T-mobile website to see if it does the trick?

Where are you located? In some areas, the TMobile service will say AT&T under Mobile Network.

No, I am i Baltimore, always says "T-mobile" on my 8320. I mean it says "AT&T" under status without any signal.

Strange. Does the device show vendor code 100?

, yea, I hope so too.

I am not ordering through CS anymore. I'll wait until I can get my hands on it in the store. BTW, anyone knows when that happens? I heard 4/4 or something...

I've been checking stores around northern NJ for a week. Nothing. I run in, scamper around like a rabid weasel checking the displays, then run back out. I've asked so many reps if they have the 8820 and gotten that "sorry, not yet" look that now I don't bother asking. I just look for the unit on display.

Yep, just confirmed with CS- 4/7 8820 should be available in stores. BTW, they unit they sent me was "made in Mexico". Maybe I get a locally produced unit next time

AHHHHH!!!!!

I've spoken and I've recieved. Got my 8820 in the mail today, DOESNT TURN ON!!! SOB!!! I was waiting sooo anxiously long for this to arrive, now I have to send it back and wait another 3 days? I guess Im not surprised, its just my luck. Things like this happen to me all the time. I know it isn't anyone's fault, but why me? why? why? why?

NEXT, I will win the lottery but lose the ticket. I'm thinking I should just get a generic samsung phone and wait for the 9xxx series....oh, but then it'll probably go to AT&T.

Sorry for the rant.

rjdoc...i feel you brother!!!

Does the 8820 have WiFi and GPS? I'm too lazy to look.
