My BB is also my alarm clock, and I'm usually on call so I have to keep it on anyway, if I wasn't on call, I still wouldn't turn it off.

I turn it off when I'm not using it, which is typically weekends ... I have to have some boundaries.

My Curve sits on the electronics section of my kitchen counter where my charging station is (yeah, seriously, hubby got me one for Christmas for all my toys) at night next to or on its charger if necessary. I have it on a quiet or vibrate profile at all times. I can't hear it at night when it's on the kitchen counter since that's the opposite end of the house from my bedroom.

When my husband works graveyard shifts I do put on the Phone Only profile and put it on my nightstand in case something happens to him while he's driving home from work. The LED indicator does not disturb me. I sleep like a rock.

My BB runs just fine with this usage and I charge it every two to three days when it gets down to about 20 percent.

Curve doesn't serve as an alarm clock for me. Hungry dogs bark in the morning to wake me up if I've slept too late.

Mine is on all the time unless I have to do a battery pull for anything. I also charge it every night.

I'd like to know where RIM recommends powering the device off at night to make it last longer. The screen turns off and it does make a great alarm clock.

Truth. I prefer the BB alarm clock over my clock radio, which I tend to sleep through. I have no reason to power my BB down.

Work BB goes off at Midnight and back on at 6:30am, I like to have some sleep every night. Personal BB is on 24/7. I pull battery once a week to reboot the BB and charge when needed. Never had any problems.

Would you leave your Computer on 24/7? I think not.
Why would a high tech cell phone be any different?

LOL!

This thread got me thinking, would configuring the BB to shut off at say, 4AM and turn back on at 4:01AM provide any "memory cleaning" or other stability benefits?

This might be useful to folks like me, who never shut off the device except when pulling the battery.

Actually, yes. And all of my computers at work as well. I use the middle of the night for MS updates and virus scans.

Same here except I go 9pm to 5am. Keeps the wife off my back and on my belly.

I leave my computer on 24/7. The only times I turn it off is if I go out of town for more than a day. I see no reason to turn it off otherwise.

My Blackberry is always on except when I do the battery pull every week or so. I have it set for the LED to flash for new emails. I'd go nuts if it made noise everytime an email arrives. Also use it for my alarm clock.

Ditto.

I also incorporate Exceptions in my Profiles for those really important emails.

I have a profile setup called Alarm Only that has the phone. email and other alerts set to silent and the notification light off. That way I never turn it off but can be sure the alarm will work.

I never turn mine off and it works great. The reps must have thought you had a Windows phone! ;)

I use the Auto On/Off feature, shutting down at 11 pm every night, waking up at 4:45 am during the week and at 7 am on the weekends.

I use it as my alarm clock all week long without issue.

I used to just set my profile to Quiet for overnights. But the LED still woke up my wife. And once I got a nice white noise machine, the GSM interference through the speakers could wake the dead. So I got acquainted with Auto On/Off and have been much happier since.

Anyways, mine is on 24/7, as daphne said, except for the weekly battery pull.

Ditto on the "always on vibrate". Plus I have it set up to turn off/on on specific times at night/morning.
