Hi,

I just checked on the T-Mo site and found that they have v. 4.2.2.193 available for the 8820 but 4.2.1.74 for the 8800. Do these two normally have different OS versions? And would it be some other reason for T-Mo to have different versions available for these phones?

because they are two different phones. 8820 has wifi support with UMA, 8800 does not.
