Now. We need to write a webpage that interfaces with the google maps api... the Kidtracker 4000. Mwahahaha. As an added feature, you can sync your childs significant other with your unite server and have it set off alarms anytime the GPS coordinates are within 10 feet of each other.

Just wanted to thank Grimlin and hrbuckley for their work on this. The BCP method didn't work for me but changing the HEX value did. Great to have the usefulness of Unite, a functioning web browser and bluetooth connectivity again!

i saw a thread about adding it to the BES.

Just a thought.

HOWTO: Enable/Disable HTML Email Processing and Rendering in BES 4.1 SP5 | BlackBerryNews.com

I do not have a device with 4.5 yet. I will look at the server piece tonight though and see if it is possible to enable manually. Did the fields even exist? I haven't looked.

I'm getting that same error that hrbuckly was getting, but am a little unsure how to make those modifications manually. Anytime you can post step by step instructions would be greatly appreciated.

i dont know if the field exists. i was just hoping it did and went for it. didnt seem to affect it.
i also created a new email address to use with this. didnt want to make it mess up with the BIS accounts. i thought the unite emails would have a different color around them. (at least according to the security settings)

keep up the amazing work.

i tried to do my regular sync with desktop manager today. (on my pc, not the one running unite.) and it gave me a warning/error that it could not sync my address book, calendar, and notes. says they were set to do wireless sync....
i changes the address book and notes on the device. i make changes all the time and i want my outlook to reflect that. what are my other options? the only calendar that needs to be synced wirelessly is unite! can we mod this?

i put my wife on it, when i enter an appointment on my curve within seconds its by her too. now interstingly she on her 7130e can open and edit it. changes will reflect by both of us. i can not open it, even though i was the one who made it.

hmm. i cannot open any entries, even those not on unite. something really odd. i must have messed something in the database by me.

i can create appointments, the second i save them, they are locked

I don't use Outlook myself, but this behavior is not unexpected since the code is a stripped down BES. There may be a policy option on the BES to allow local syncing and wireless sync, Grim may be able to clarify. What we can't do is expect Grim, or anyone else, to publish all possible combinations and permutations of policy flags that anyone might need.

I see two ways forward: someone writes/adapts a tool to allow users to edit the policies themselves; or users lobby RIM to provide greater flexibility in Unite. In the absence of either of these you might want to look at a tool that will sync your Outlook to/from a SQL database. A little Googling turned up GeniusConnect, there must be others. This is not an endorsement of GeniusConnect, I haven't tried anything like this, not being an Outlook user, so YMMV .

You can also disable wireless sync. If not from calendar, options. Then definitely by going into advanced options/enterprise activation. Type Alt cnfg (pearl users use double tap). You can set wireless sync to No in there. Desktop sync should work after that.

I am glad you mentioned that. I was looking and it appears that the new Admin Tools put out by RIM (yesterday?) have some policy reporting and importing/exporting tools. I downloaded at work, but haven't had a chance to install. If they have potential, I will bring them home and test them on the Unite DB. I have a lot going on this week, so unless I have insomnia my postings will be sparse. Sorry.

No worries Grim, will look forward to reading what and when you can post.

I hope RIM will come up with a more flexible way of setting policies, that the average family computer maven can use. At the risk of starting a flame war I think Unite, with a few improvements, will do more to stave off iPhone encroachment into the Blackberry market, and advance Blackberries in the consumer market than any flashy new handheld.

Updating top post now. I made a User-friendly VBScript. You should no longer need to install the SSMSE

For such a manly avatar, you sure are a chicken...

Seriously though, what's missing for you? Not making promises, just curious.

Can you clarify a bit. Do you want to have unite without shared contacts and calendar or do you want to have shared contacts and calendar along with wired outlook sync?
