I just upgraded to 4.5.0.10, and wanted to mention that the video recorder records to 3gp, which means that BB finally has 3gp support! I work for a company that does 3gp streaming, and this is a breakthrough into the BB market. Since my 8310 does not have 3G, however, the streaming video is pretty slow, and I've seen some issues with some streaming that we will need to look into. The new Bold is supposed to support 3G I hear?

I believe so, or better yet, it SHOULD.
I have the 8320 and youtube with wifi on is pretty slick. Its not the best thing, but for a handheld, its pretty slick. It looks faster than my friends iPhone.

I too am having issues with UMA, with 4.5.0.37, my device will not switch over to it, the error code is W006.8, the device says it is a T-Mobile Network Error.... I have a Hotspot router, and it wont switch to UMA with that either. Has anybody been able to find out how to get UMA to work!!!! BTW there still is a memory leak

Maybe I should stick with .10. Does anyone know if .18 would be better? (than .10)

have the same isue - was told uma was not supported with this release, while I find that hard to believe that there would be an 8320 version and not support what distinguishes it from an 8310 or 8300. I'm gonna give it 24 hours to resolve itself.

Well, as of right now, i have .10 loaded and seems to be working okay. It has only done the auto-reboot on my twice with one of those occassions i think I might have hit the power button myself on accident.
I might take some of your advice and go to .18. But havent decided yet. Can any of you give me some retrospective on which one to go with? That would be grand.

Which youtube site are you going to? m.youtube.com? I'm not able to play any content, I get "an error has occurred attempting to play media". Running 4.5.0.10 right now though, about to upgrade to .18 when I get home.

Using Blackberry emulation. Same thing with IE emulation. Everything is checked as well under browser config.

My engineer was informing me that the browser seems to lack RTSP support. I'm wondering if using Opera mini would resolve the issues? I'm able to pull up 3gp files that I can download as well as mp4 files. Running over AT&T network. I think I have a TMo SIM I can use.

I'm going to give TMo a shot. I'm still getting the same issue no matter what emulation I try. I've also got everything checked and tried unchecking "terminat slow running scripts" to no avail.

Hm.. just "Wirelessly posted (Curve 8310)"... Also noticed that when posting on the forum here, and typing in the quick response box, I had to hit the back key to get out of the box so I could submit it! Just something I noticed.

Found the issue. My plan on AT&T blocks RTSP. Using a Tmo SIM with VPN plan, opening videos from m.youtube.com works perfectly. After switching to Tmo, I also had to make changes to the APN to wap.voicestream.com. 4.5.0.10 does malform the request, however, and drops some important information. When making the request, the BB drops the request because it cuts the 3gp/ like so:
Code:
SETUP rtsp://ourserver:554/playlist/pdddman_0ff89de99d4a8f4b04cb162bcb5740cf_1210362753860.3gtrackID=1 RTSP/1.0
CSeq: 2
User-Agent: BlackBerry8310/4.5.0.10 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102
Transport: RTP/AVP;unicast;client_port=64274-64275;mode="PLAY"
and the request SHOULD read:
rtsp://ourserver:554/playlist/pdddman_0ff89de99d4a8f4b04cb162bcb5740cf_121036275 3860.3g p/trackID=1
Looking into it further and loading up .18 to see if it helps.

while I did find the 4.5.0.37 OS to be faster, my current location's signal is poor and UMA is a must. For this reason I have to back down to .18, and I will watch for a fix to the UMA problem

Yeah. UMA doesn't work on .37. Fortunately I have EDGE everywhere I go.

I'm one of the very few unfortunate, I barely get 1 bar of EDGE at my house. :(
No solution for the .37 UMA yet, but I will keep experimenting.

Youtube video will obviously be much faster on the new BB's that have 3G. Um, yeah, duh. Which is probably why they don't provision RTSP on anything non-3G.

Lets not get to worried apparently it doesnt need to say UMA for UMA to work....
