Is it normal for the keypad to make like a "crunching" sound when pressing various buttons? I am on my 4th device and the left talk and menu button makes the noise when pressed. My 3rd device did it on the right side back and end keys which I sent it back because I assumed it had a bad membrane or board underneath and would eventually give out. Am I correct or am I jumping the gun and just need to break it in over time and the noise will go away? Any feedback would be great so that I know weather to send the device back or not.

Myself and a co-worker have had our 8130s for about 3 months now. None of the keys on either of our berrys have the problem that you describe.

I can relate to what you are saying in regards to the crunching sound on the qwerty keyboard but only when i catch two keys at once. As far as I am concerned this is fairly normal...considering how many I have seen and activated!
I certainly don't think that it is anything to worry about. If anything you will probably find that the pearl scroll wheel goes before the keypad!

Sounds promising, I will hold onto this one. Not really in the mood to argue with Verizon anymore anyways, I've wasted enough time with the last 3 devices.

I just pressed all my keys and didn't notice any crunching what so ever. Also if you are on the third device you fall under the lemon law tell them you want a comparable device brand new.

So I can call them back today and tell them to send me a 8330? :-D

I would call them and tell them you are filing a complaint with the BBB under the lemon law and see what they tell you.
