I thought I would move all the ring tones that came with the phone, and other movable stuff to the card, but can't seem to figure it out. I searched and only found ways to add to the card. I have it plugged into the computer right now. I thought I could take a bunch of stuff off the device, and bring it to the card to free up memory.

No, you can't do that. You can store mp3's, add ringtones, pictures, files, etc. However, you can't move applications or any preloaded stuff to the media card.

well you can transfer pictures and ringtones you have dl onto the sd card i think with the black berry manager software

True, if you added ringtones to the device memory you can move them to the card. However, you can't do anything with the preloads.

Oh, dang. That was the main reason I got it to increase memory, and move un-needed things off the phone to the card. Although for some strange reason after installing the card my free memory is now 19mb (the highest it's ever been)

I was thinking of doing that, but I was weary of messing around with it. I'm not sure which OS I need to d/l either.

Instructions are there. You download whatever OS is already installed on your BB. Look in Options >About.
