Default SMS texting for new BB owner

Do most of you use SMS still on a regular basis for your non bb friends?

Still learning

Do you mean when do I SMS versus email? If so, I text when I want to communicate with somebody *now* and I email if it's not anything that needs to be addressed right away. Does that make sense? I may always have my email with me, but most of my friends don't. They do have their phones though, so texting is a good option.

Wirelessly posted (at&t BlackBerry 8310)

Yep. How else would I contact them?

If they do email on their mobile then email would be a good choice because it's covered by your Blackberry Data Plan. If they have Blackberrys themselves, BB Messenger or PIN messaging is instant and also covered by the data plan. Otherwise, good old SMS is the way to go. I use it from my BB constantly with my non-BB friends. I got a text message add-on plan, 400 messages per month for an extra $5 per month. That's T-Mobile, but Verizon has text add-ons too.

Depends on the person. Not everyone I know even uses SMS. Some people I PIN. Some people I SMS. Some people I call. It also depends on the situation, as mentioned above. Isn't this pretty straightforward?

Default Sorry I think I was unclear

SMS I am limited to 500 out of network. Any emailing or data plan tricks that get around that are what I was wondering about in case I run close. I think I'll be fine though.

Something like that?
