Goto Options/Security Options/General Settings.

Scroll down and what is stated under "services"?

Hi,

It says "no services" right now. I have used JL_Cmder to wipe the bb and installed a new OS.

Do I still need to perform the IT Policy removal procedure on Remove IT Policy - BlackBerryFAQ ?

thanks!

"no services" = no IT Policy.

If it had one formerly thought, it could be pushed back, unless it is removed from the BES it was formerly on. Hopefully you are free from the IT Policy, but you can always do the remove IT Policy later if needed.

So if ANYTHING is listed under services that means I have an IT Policy on my phone? How could that be when my phone has never been connected to a BES in any way? I have two things listed under services.
BBFS1 [GTALKNA1] (AES)
and...
Secure GC Enabled
What are those things?

If you had an IT Policy, you'd see an entry such as:
IT Policy Name: Default

The two things you see are for Google Talk/Google Chat.

I don't use that and never have, so how do I remove it? Same as removing the IT Policy? I'd really hate towipe my BB and start from scratch again.

Whoa... slow down.... there's nothing you need to do.
It just means that your BlackBerry is capable of using those features if you ever wanted to.

No need to go through any removal process or device wiping.
Just forget you ever saw them there.

Default May I get some help on this topic too?

I was connected to a BES for a 24 hour period of time and then had it shut down. I didn't ask for a "blank IT policy" since I wasn't aware of this process and was simply turned off.

I've had a number of issues but finally got my device back to where it was before I connected to the BES....or it seems I have, I don't really know.

I checked under Security and found the following:

IT Policy name: default
Last updated June 25th, (I was disconnected from the BES that day)
Services:
(only two items listed; my work email and my home email both followed by this: (3DES)

I sync with my home email via wireless through Verizon. I also sync my calendar, memo, tasks, address book and Ascendo Vault at home. I sync with a cable at work too but only for my calendar, tasks and memo. No addresses or Vault. I do not sync my email from work to my device either wirelessly or by cable.

So are the two entries from my Home and work computers or are they remnants of the BES experience (only 24 hours but I guess that doesn't matter).

If they are part of an IT policy, and since the device seems to be running okay, do you recommend I remove them or ignore them. What's the risk/benefit of going through the removal process?

Thanks,

Gary

Default IT Policy cleared

I followed the instructions and though was doubtful, it worked. I no longer have a reference to an IT policy.

If I might.... it would be a good idea to conclude the IT Policy Procedure with a comment that the change to the Registry should be removed after the successful operation and after the device is removed from the PC.

If I missed something, and the edit needs to remain (forever?) then please advise.

Thanks to the authors and posters who directed me to the instructions.

Gary
