Please Login to Remove!

It will also adjust to the backlight according to the light around, no way to change that.

so without the new 4.5OS can you still get HTML emails? I'm using 4.2 and wondered if I'd have to do anything this weekend.

Now when you say log into your BIS account and send them, what exactly are you saying? I've found my service books, but have no idea what to do.

You have to have 4.5 OS....4.2 won't give you HTML email.

For the service books, you just need to click on 'send service books'.

There should be the option there to click on the Service Books link. A prompt will come up to ask whether you wish to send the service books through to your device, just click 'ok'.

The service books will be sent through to your device, and you should receive a message saying that the account has been setup and you should start receiving emails shortly.

So the auto adjust backlight thing is new in 4.5?

It never happened before...

No, it shouldn't be new. My 8800 does it with OS 4.2. It's just an option that can be turned on in Options > Screen/Keyboard.

My 8100 is slow immediately AFTER a battery pull. But then after it seems to catch up to itself, it is fine. I have to believe this is due to 4.5 because it didn't have this "extra" prior to 4.5.

DM 4.5 isn't the requirement, it's O/S 4.5, but that's just one of the pieces.

If you're on BIS in North America, the other piece happens this weekend; I'm not sure about when elsewhere.

If you're on BES, it needs an update (no idea on timing) to be installed before you'll see it.

EVERYBODY will be seeing it pretty soon now - and it's much prettier than what we're used to - but DM 4.5 was NOT the trigger.

OK, I'm still confused on the backlight thing.

Again, what's happening is that the backlight appears to be dimming and then coming back to full power at random, nothing I do changes when or how it happens.

It never did this before I upgraded to 4.5, so one of two things must be possible:

1 - It's either a bug or a feature in that release - I need to know which.

OF

2 - Somehow during the OS upgrade my firmware got fried, and now I have a bad phone.

Any thoughts?

Option 3 - your berry is detecting subtle changes in the ambient lighting. From what I understand you don't have any control over this type of auto-dim.

I guess my problem is that it never happened before. Maybe they 'improved' that feature in 4.5. Whatever it is, I don't like it...

No one knows when any carrier will release OS 4.5.
That's not related to this weekends BIS upgrade at all.
BIS is being upgraded from 2.4 to 2.5 this weekend. No mention of OS 4.5 from any US carriers yet.

ok here it is.

NO 4.5 on your Device means No HTML in your email.

BIS is currently at version 2.4 for North America. It is being upgraded to version 2.5 this weekend.
Included in this update will be the ability to view HTML email messages on supported handhelds.
Those supported handhelds require OS 4.5 to be installed on them.

As of yet... 4.5 has not been released by ANY U.S. wireless carrier.
No date has been set as to when a U.S. carrier will release OS 4.5.
